Here in Bristol we may not have the opportunity to experience the very first Greggs sit down meal (now wouldn’t THAT be romantic?!), but, we have plenty of other choices of special venues to choose from when you are looking or something to remember.

So whether you’ve plucked a date from tinder this Valentines, or you’re still in the ‘honeymoon stage’, smug and loved up or ‘it’s complicated’, you’ve already slogged through the murky dating waters, so here is a guide to give you a hand with navigating the Bristol restaurant scene and take your pick for date night.

The Ox

Address: 43 Corn Street, Bristol BS1

When you have good chat and comfortable funds but your face doesn’t perform that well under natural light (it happens!) The Ox on Corn Street, hidden in a basement below The Commercial Rooms is the place for you. They’re offering a three course set sharing menu with a glass of fizz at £55 per person. The decadent and elegant surroundings are bound to make things feel a bit special and you can also indulge in a few signature cocktails afterwards.

The Glass Boat

Address: Welsh Back, Bristol BS1

If you’re taking your date aboard this romantic boat, you better be seriously considering giving them the key to your flat. The panoramic windows and tables that overlook the water with unique views of the harbour side have to be one of the most impressive in the city. The menu changes regularly but is always delicious and really pushes the boat out (we had too).

The Kensington Arms

Address: 35-37 Stanley Road, Bristol BS6

The lush cosy put near Redland provides a warm and cosy atmosphere whilst still keeping things relaxed. If you prefer more of an activity date, but the only activity you’re really into is drinking, then this one is for you! For just £35pp you can learn how to be the wine snob you’ve always pretended to be with their prosecco and sparkling wine tasting evening.

Under the Stars

Address: Harbourside, Bristol BS1

Moored opposite the Water Shed, Under the Stars has recently undergone a shiny transformation. Below deck lies an intimate set up, with a solid tapas offering that’s ideal for sharing in a dreamy, romantic setting. The cocktails are also wonderful as well.

San Carlo

Address: 44 Corn Street, Bristol BS1

With the highly swanky interior, blue lit ceiling, mirrored walls and marble tables (also perfect for an Instagram-able food pic) this restaurant will excite anyone who is into ‘nice stuff’. If your date is into pop culture, spotting all the celebrity photos as to who has graced the restaurant is a strong talking point too if you struggle for conversation! They are offering a Valentine’s Day menu.

The Library

Address: 208 Cheltenham Road, Bristol BS6

We heart The Library. The simplistic décor and low lighting with candles everywhere creates the perfect romantic atmosphere. Their selection of wines is sure to be appreciated by any wine connoisseur (or wine wannabe) and owner Louise is wonderful, making you feel right at home. Choose a cosy corner and get to know each other a bit better over some vino.
