Whilst these top 5 lists are not in any particular order, these restaurants are some firm favourites of Foozie and we think them deserving of a shout out! If you are looking for inspiration for your next meal then have a scroll…
Address: 43 Corn Street, Bristol BS1
No where does steak quite like The Ox. Their venues in both Corn Street and Clifton are decadent, stylish and special – the perfect setting to indulge yourself in top quality cuts of meat and a stunning list of hand picked wines to accompany. Choose from classic cuts or share between two, but also be sure to sample their supporting sides, the mac ‘n’ cheese is delicious as is their bone marrow starter. To be honest, once you are at The Ox it would be silly not to spoil yourself completely, it’s totally worth it. The Corn Street location in particular is a great choice for a special occasion.
Address: 10 St. Nicholas Street, Bristol BS1
Chomp is a relaxed restaurant serving top quality steaks and a selection of beers, wines and spirits. This casual spot has a modern industrial feel inside with simple table and chairs and a stripped back interior. The food speaks for itself at Chomp and it already has a fine reputation within the city. Obviously you’re going to order a steak, that’s why you are here, but may we suggest also going for the black pudding beignets – yes, that’s deep fried black pudding guys. Shit.
Address: 44-46 Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8
A Bristol stalwart, Cowshed has been on the Bristol scene as a constant beacon of locally sourced meat cooked to your taste. A favourite location for many, this cosy and welcoming restaurant is a great spot for a lunch date, a nice dinner or a Sunday roast with the family. They also have a separate side area perfect for big groups. Cow Shed are well known for their sizzling skillet menu option – where you get served a hot stone and can cook your own steak to how you like it.
Steak of The Art
Address: Canon’s Way, Harbourside
The fun and funky Steak of The Art is a cool venue for a memorable date night or dinner with the family. This large restaurant has impressive decor and artwork from local artists and selected differently designed ‘booths’ for up to six people (we love the Alice in Wonderland one especially). The food is both reasonable and delicious ad there is also a really modern and funky bar area, which is great to meet up in beforehand or indulge in a couple of cheeky cocktails once you have had your fill of meat.
Address: 9 Mina Road, Bristol BS2
Ok, so not necessarily a steak restaurant we know, but The Cauldron serve up some of the most delicious cuts we’ve tasted in Bristol and it’s all down to their technique. Everything at The Cauldron is cooked over fire – there is no electricity to be seen in the kitchen. This gives The Cauldron steaks a real smoky taste, which we think is incredible. Teamed with the best chips in the city (yes we said it), we just had to include them in our list.
