Nothing beats a classic sarnie. We’d go as far to say they are probably one of our favourite culinary creations. There are so many combinations to be had, from classics such as ham and cheese to indulgent fillings that include steak and pork belly. The possibilities are endless!

Because we all love a decent sandwich, we decided to investigate and see where you can get your hands on some of the most outrageous ones in the UK, we reckon you’ll be trying to recreate some of these bad boys at home…

Max’s Sandwich Shop – London

Max is famous for his modest sarnie slinging shop in London, so much so, that he’s written a book all about sandwiches. Brilliant. His gaffe is open all day and into the evening – so you can get your hands on a carb laden treat any time of the day. Described as a ‘main meal between two slices of bread’, these sarnies include beauties such as ham egg and chips and Korean beef with kimchi and noodles. Max is truly changing the sandwich game forever.

Hell’s Kitchen Deli – Brighton

With their 7 Deadly Sandwiches to choose from (all named after the 7 Deadly Sins) Hell’s Kitchen Deli is a very popular choice for those looking to get their sarnie fix in Brighton. Whether you order the ‘Wrath’ sanger, which is filled with a spicy mix of meatballs, chorizo & Salami with melted cheese & fiery hot sauce or the ‘Pride’ sandwich made up of rare roast British beef, heritage tomatoes, garden salad with a dollop of horseradish, you sure will be indulging your deepest darkest sandwich fantasies.

Hart’s Bakery – Bristol

There is no way we can talk about bread without mentioning one of our favourites and our very own, Hart’s Bakery. The place is a flipping Bristol institution. Yes, they offer stunning pastries and sweet treats but they also rank high in the sandwich game. Their daily lunch 5specials often offer baps of joy, but you truly haven’t lived until you have tried their cheese toastie.

Kracklinjoint – Newcastle

Wy aye pet! In the words of PJ & Duncan, you’ll be getting ready to rumble once you take a peek at the amazing sandwiches on offer in Kracklinjoint. Honestly, this is sarnie porn at it’s finest. Specialising in using high quality meat – these sandwiches aren’t for the faint hearted. On the menu, expect to find salt beef, porchetta, crackling (clues in the name) and bacon to name a few.

Northern Soul – Manchester

OK, so whether you class a toastie and a sandwich as two separate things is entirely for you to argue about with your friends, but only after you have looked at THIS beast. HOLY LORD. Northern Soul is based in Manchester and have even had a visit from Man Vs. Food’s Adam Richman himself. One of their standout creations has to be ‘The Pig On A Lead’ which is packed full of 3 cheese Mac & Cheese and their 9 hour BBQ Pulled Pork. Just look at it.

Sandwich Sandwich – Bristol

Another one of our very own is the crew from Sandwich Sandwich – who will create for you whatever your sarnie loving heart desires! With lots of choice in the form of fillings, you can pick and choose from a whole range of combinations and rest assured that these sandwiches are packed full and stacked high!

New York Deli – Cardiff

Inspired from the streets of NYC, you better come to the New York Deli in Cardiff as hungry as possible, because you are about to get FED. Offering sandwiches, bagels and hoagies – these bad boys are packed to the brim with fillings, and even come with a knife and fork for those who can’t face getting too messy!

Whichwich – London

A sandwich shop where you are the boss. Whichwich is all about creating your perfect sarnie – no matter what fillings you want to include! They have a menu of their go-to standards, which you can order and have as they come or add any extras you like (there are over 40 filling choices to choose from!) so your lunch (literally) never has to be the same again.

Piece – Glasgow

Everyone has got their favourite ‘piece’ at Glasgow, and taking one look at the menu – it’s not hard to see why. It might be one of the biggest sandwich shop selection we have ever seen, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options thrown into the mix as well.
